Brighton, England, March 27, 2007 - NCsoft ? Europe and ArenaNet ? today revealed their exciting plans for the future success of your franchise Guild Wars ?. Both companies announced that they have already begun with the development of a continuation of the original Guild Wars series. Guild Wars 2 ? will take the mechanics who did the first Guild Wars one of the most popular online games to create a new persistent world. They have also announced that, like its predecessors, Guild Wars 2 will have no subscription fees. Still no release date confirmed, but expected to ArenaNet Guild Wars Beta Test 2 will be the second half of 2008.
Meanwhile, studies of ArenaNet are working on the first real expansion for Guild Wars, titled Guild Wars Eye of the North ?. Planned for the second half of 2007, Guild Wars Eye of the North ? will require at least one of the previous Guild Wars campaigns (Prophecies ?, Factions ?, or Nightfall ?) in order to play. This is a title designed for those who already have long played a Guild Wars because its content is directed to the characters already created before.
“We thought it was very important to reward people who’ve been playing Guild Wars since leaving the first campaign in 2005,” said Jeff Strain, co-founder of ArenaNet. “These players have attended three huge campaigns in less than two years and think it’s time to fill in some details of the created universe and to give more content to the old characters. We are happy to use all our efforts into something that people has long been asking. ”
Set in huge caves in the land of Tyrian is explored in Guild Wars Prophecies, Guild Wars Eye of the North will have 18 giant multilevel dungeons, 150 new skills for the 10 professions, 10 new heroes, 40 new armor sets including more objects, weapons and titles.
And for those who have put their sights on Guild Wars 2, Guild Wars Eye of the North released a museum where Monuments accomplishments will be immortalized for all who are then inherited by the characters in Guild Wars 2, allowing them to unlock exclusive extras.
